This one's really about watching people get older and being overlooked for things like jobs, promotions etc. I wrote it from the point of view of a female TV presenter who knows what's happening and is powerless to do anything about it. Not that I can write as a female - but I can write as an observer and someone who has seen it happen to close friends.

Gaslighter

Looking for some way to fuse punk with electronic music with this one. Had my first attempt at trying to create my own synth sound too - it ended up being an 80's pad with a wah effect on it. At the time of recording the great Eddie Van Halen had just passed on, so in tribute I sort of stole one of his trade mark licks in the solo. Scoot's voice is absolutely superb as always.

The Calm

The Calm was written and recorded in 2019.

The song is in 3/4 time which I don't write in all that often. It's a very simple song and in a way - it really needed to be.  It's about slowing down and noticing all the great things that are out there in the world. Reminds me of that quote from Ferris Bueller:

"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it".
